An art project by Tim Michielsen to support our planet.

countries covered

The cause is The Ocean Cleanup of dutch inventor Boyan Slat.
5% of all earnings will be donated to this essential project.

What do they do?

The Ocean Cleanup develops advanced technologies to rid world’s oceans of plastic. A full-scale deployment of their systems is estimated to clean up 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch every 5 years.

How about the donations?

5% of all income will be donated to The Ocean Cleanup on a 3-monthly bases. Proof of these 3-monthly donations will be posted on this website and displayed in the counter area above.

The goal is to spread these future animals all over the globe, so they can look after mother earth.

Animal DNA (materials)

All animals are handmade out of wood, varying from popsicle sticks of different sizes, to toothpicks & woodscraps. The glue holding the wood together is plastic, and that’s not a coincidence,

Plastic will be a main resource for the next few decades.

I suggest we make glue gun cartridges with it so we can grow our future fauna family.

Animal abilities

Most of the future animals are based on excisting animals in form and behaviour. Yet i give them additional (anti-pollution) abilities  for two main reasons:

  1. Someone has to look after our planet, animals have already proven that they are better at this than us. I find it completely logical that they get the extra powers to ensure earth’s health in the future.
  2. Just because i can. As an artist i want to  make as much of a difference as possible.
Animal protection (APA)

Since we are good on our way to wipe out all excisting animal species i have no choice to list all future animals as APA‘s*, including (new) animals which i made up.

*APA = Already Protected Animal

As an extra protection, future animals are placed in glass bell jars giving them the comfort of their own habitat untill we release them from their (all over the) world locations.

Tim Michielsen Future Fauna

About the creator …

Tim Michielsen is a multi-talented artist, born and raised in Antwerp who wants to make the world a better place. You may call him an ‘artivist‘ if you will.

After more than a decade of mainly digital work (abstract 3d renders), i wanted to create something with my hands again. Since painting or drawing felt too 2D, i was drawn to making sculptures. ‘Future Fauna’ is my first project as a sculptor.
